Aabru Art’s mission is to bring the best African and Indian art to the attention of the world’s leading art collectors, art institutions and the media covering the art world. We also aim to help the best young artists on the two continents grow their careers.
We believe that Africa and India have made a huge contribution to art, something that is not always appreciated. Ancient traditions that are being lost have influenced the most avant-garde artists in the West. We wish to honour this contribution while bringing the best contemporary art into the spotlight of critical appreciation and acclaim.
Aabru Art’s growing reputation is being built on exhibiting the best works of African and Indian masters as well as emerging artists. The gallery also assists buyers at every level and advises on building collections that will provide pleasure for years, as well as serving as a growing investment.
Aabru’s gallery spaces are central to London’s art district and offer private viewing in Marylebone and Old Broad Street.
Anshu Bahanda, the creative force behind Aabru Art, says: “It is a great privilege to be acting as an ambassador for African and Indian art which still remains relatively unknown and understood, although now we are beginning to see the work of these two great regions of the world step increasingly into the limelight. The people of these two great landmasses have created some of the most ancient cultures on earth and so the work is always powerful, elemental and yet subtle. It has within it the power of the divine, of nature and of life. India and Africa are rightly proud of their artists and their artistic heritage. At Aabru Art events and exhibitions, the west now has a chance to see something of the genius of Africa and India, not the new commercial power, but that most treasured part, the ancient, wise, spiritual, philosophical Africa and India, brought into the 21st century by the ravishing work of the region’s brightest lights.”
